Challenge: Use the Internet to capitalize on my knowledge of sociology
Evaluation Criteria: low cost, use of my existng knowledge, proven market
Technique: Comparison of my challenge to a randomly selected word - "sludge"
Idea: Create a Web portal that helps people protect themselves from "social pollution" by providing information on the
facts surrounding current social issues. The site could make money by selling books, custom research, and some other products
or services of interest to relatively sophisticated, middle-class Web surfers. The site would be advertised in a few magazines
that appeal to literate and sophisticated readers, or at least to the socially conscious (examples: Utne Reader, Mother
Jones, The New Yorker).
