A few words about my background and my ideas.

Education

In 1999 I earned my Ph.D. in Sociology from Oklahoma State University, where my specialties were environmentak sociology and formal organizations. I previously earned a Master's in Applied Sociology and a Bachelor's degree in Sociology from Clemson University.

Experience

My dissertation was a study of technological change in Oklahoma's government. Since leaving graduate school, I've done policy research, taught sociology, done some writing for the Web, tried to start a writing and research business, and started a career with the federal government.

Since leaving graduate school I've spent hundreds of hours studying and writing about sustainable development, creative thinking strategies like lateral thinking, and problem-solving tools like Kepner-Tregoe.

My Ideas in 50 Words

More people need to think like sociologists. Biases in our thinking about society cause many personal and societal problems, mainly through poor collective decision making. The ideas that underpin our society are often bad ideas. We need to be more creative about how we create, adapt, implement, and "sell" social change.

Other Stuff

I live with a cat named Rygel (after the Farscape character) and love movies.

I've started blogging again. Have a look and leave a comment!
